Date: Sep 2010 Name: Craze Carp Team Email: info@crazecarpteam.hu Venue: Nagykallo lake Hungary

Details: Hi Shaun,
I'd like to share with you our fantastic experiences of Nagykallo in between 27-29. August 2010. The team spent 3 days at the lake catching more then 34 carps where the smalest was 17,63 lbs the biggest "Old Lady" 44,20 lbs. Commons and mirrors just loved Quest baits boilies
giving them as snowman (20mm sinking with 20mm pop-up). The used flavours were Surf'n'turf, Special Crab, Rahja Spice, Tiger Nut. I must tell you the circumstances to see clearly it was a great result in that rapidly changing wheather. As we talked to other anglers many of them could not show up any results during the days or just smaller carps. So thanks Quest Baits you worked again very well in Hunagry!

It only happens to Matt Hayes?

Date: Sep 2010 Name: Ron Key Email: carpfisher@tiscali.co.uk Venue: Grenville Lake

Details: You must have all seen the TV programmes, the rods are on the ground, the buzzers and all the gear are packed away and one of the rods screams off. It happens all the time to Matt Hayes but it never happens to me, not till this week anyway. I’d worked hard, fished two swims this weekend but every swim in the area of the lake I’d chosen drew a blank. As everyone drifted away I was sure that there was still a fish to be had in my swim. I Spombed out the last of my Chilli Chocolate boilies and Maximum Action pellets and decided to sit it out till teatime. The hours and minutes ticked away; slowly my gear was dismantled and packed away leaving only my rods. Finally it was time to wind in, and as I wound in the right hand rod I noticed the tip of the one the left twitch, only slightly but it definitely moved. Then my eye was drawn to the line it was swinging out to the left, I was fishing at about 130 yards and the fish had kited right to left almost 100 yards and not taken an inch off the spool. I grabbed the rod and wound down hard, it felt like a good fish. I inched it towards me and then remembered the band of heavy weed running in front of the swim almost reaching the surface. The carp hit the surface just beyond it, and I could see the bright fluorescent pink boilie hanging from its mouth. Lifting the rod high to keep the fish on the surface I eased it over the weedbed and finally into the net. 32lb 2oz that will do nicely, one more for the fluoro pop ups.

Cheers Ron Key

32lb 2oz and very welcome.

19lb common

Date: Sep 2010 Name: Chris Tyers Email: christyer@ntlworld.com Venue: Donnington Specimen Lake

Details: caught this 19lb common on a 15mm special crab boilie. using a korda lead clip and rubber cone, on a size 8 barbless hook
(Sorry, there was no picture attached Chris)

imaculate common on chilli choc .

Date: Sep 2010 Name: Mark Parry Email: mark.cp@hotmail.com Venue: low stocked cheshire mere

Details: Last weekend decided to do a session on a very difficult Cheshire Mere, my freind has fished there all year for one 25lb'er!
The weed on there was realy bad and the best places to present a bait was where it was thinest,
maybe 4 inches. I used ESP Ghost fluorocarbon hooklink hinged, so the Chilli Chocolate snowman was just above the weed, with about a kilo of mixed 10 and 15mm baits on each rod. I was very surprised when first morning got a gorgeous, never seen before 30 lb common and probably the first time it had seen Chilli Chocolate too!

Late evening Barbel

Date: Sep 2010 Name: Paul Cooper Email: paulcooper18@sky.com Venue: River Dove

Details: Hi Shaun

I'm still hitting the rivers after barbel. 2 late evening short sessions resulted in a 10lb 14oz a 11lb 14oz barbel, both on 15mil Chilli Chocolate boilies with around 20 X 10mil freebies around the bait. Despite all the rain the rivers are still at low summer levels and running clear.

The Mackinlay Party Smashing Records!!!

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Lee Johnston Email: lee@laglehias.com Venue: La Gléhias Coarse Fisheries, Brittany, France

Details: Adam Mackinlay(11) here for the week with his dad James, and fellow angler Ian Banyard and his father Terry, picked up his first record breaking fish at 4:00am on Monday the 24th August in the dark. The 30lb 2oz Common Carp brings Adam the “Juniors Lake Record Common Carp” title; then later the same day at 2:30pm, Adam’s other rod tore off to set the new “Juniors Lake Record Catfish” at 23lb 6oz!

Both of Adam’s record breaking fish were taken from the ‘Gorse’ bank. Adam takes home with him 2 personalised bottles of low alcohol La Gléhias Cider.

Incredibly, Ian “Billy” Banyard battled in a pair of Mirrors weighing 26lb 10oz and 24lb 4oz totaling 50lb 14oz in the dark! The “Men’s Lake Record Brace” came in from the ‘Reeds’ at 1:00am, on Friday the 27th of August in torrential rain.

All the above fish fell to Quest Baits Special Crab, which has proved to be the winning bait here this week.

Also earlier in the week, Ian’s dad took the “OAP’s Lake Record Catfish” title with a whopping 52lber! This means the Mackinlay party are taking home 4 ‘Lake Record Awards’ in a week of difficult fishing due to high winds and heavy downpours.

Well done Adam, Ian and Terry!

First Ever Cat for Terry!

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Lee Johnston Email: lee@laglehias.com Venue: La Gléhias Coarse Fisheries

Details: Terry Banyard of the Mackinlay Party landed a 52lb catfish here at La Gléhias at 4:00pm on Sunday the 22nd of August and has earned himself the “OAP’s Lake Record Catfish” award.

The Maniac Moggie came from under the big overhanging Willow on the Gorse bank and was taken on a Quest Baits Chilli Chocolate half boilie combined with a half Liver B8 Boilie.

In a difficult weeks fishing, the other lads in the party have enjoyed seeing several other Carp and Cats on the bank to around 30lb.

Well done Terry!

Cut-Tail

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Scott Ratcliffe Email: info@scrproducts.co.uk Venue: Manor Farm Linear

Details: Hi Shaun

Just got back from Linear, I caught fish from Hunts corner, ST John’s, Manor Farm, over a week’s fishing , the last 2 days was really good I banked a 23lb mirror and a large carp call Cut-Tail which was the first carp to hit the 40lb at linear. The last day I banked a 22lb mirror and last one in the weed. What a good week fishing all fish came out on 10mm Chilli Chocolate boilie cut down with a 2mm fluoro pink pop-up which we made on the bank.

Thanks Scott

A howling success

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Ron Key Email: carpfisher@tiscali.co.uk Venue: Grenville Lake

Details: Just returned from a cracking session at Grenville Lake where I spend two days fighting a howling south westerly blowing straight in my face. I located spot with my marker rod around a hundred yards out that sloped from left to right dropping from 15ft to 22ft. I placed two chilli chocolate pop up rigs on it one at the top of the slope the other at the bottom. Then the hard work, Spombing out about 4 kilos of chilli chocolate 15mm boilies in a line between the two popped up baits, almost throwing myself into the lake in the the effort to cast against the wind. Luckily I had screwed an extra 1oz weight into each bobbin to combat the wind, and I was quickly rewarded with a loud donk as the bobbin hit the decking and a 27 lb 14 oz mirror raced towards me. At ten that night the same rod raced of but after a few seconds I felt a bump as the lead hit the bottom and the fish was gone.

All was quiet through the night and next morning I fought the wind to Spomb some more bait out. Shaun Harrison had given me some of Quest Baits soon to be released fluoro pop ups, so I changed one of my pop ups to a bright Fruity Trifle fluoro. Twenty minutes after completing the days baiting one of my new QD spools was smoking. Immediately I knew it was a good fish staying low and plodding first to the left and then to the right. One of those situations where the carp was in charge and I was just hanging on. Soon a stunning mirror of 38lb 12oz was in the net, and I was up to my waist in water speed dialling Shaun to come and take the photos.

I lost another fish at ten that night with the hook again falling out with little pressure from. The successful bait was again the Fruity Trifle fluoro pop up.

Six fifteen the next morning and the same rod bursts into life this time a speedy 23lb 10oz mirror, and shortly after I hear Keith Arthur on the radio congratulating me on my 38. Thanks Shaun. A couple of hours later a deep bodied fish of 28lbs 14oz rolled into my net. What a weekend six runs, four cracking fish, with four of them coming I'm convinced because of a simple change of bait to the Fruity Trifle fluoro pop ups.

Cheers Ron

Catching when sponsored anglers weren't!

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Ross And Scott Lambert Email: rossl-94@hotmail.co.uk Venue: Lakeside Fisheries, Ranskill

Details: When we arrived we had a quick tour around the lake and realised it was fishing very hard. We spoke to a couple of anglers who were sponsored by various companies and, realised they had not had a run on the rods for 4 days. So we set up and on the first night had a 13lb mirror. Then in the second night we had a run on the island rod which was fished on Special Crab 15mm boilies, fished over the top of about a dozen scattered boilies. We landed it and the scales went around to 18lb 10oz, a new pb!! The next morning we packed the bivvy away and noticed a shoal of carp in the margin. We chucked out our Special Crab hookbait and within 10 mins we got a 12lb. Twenty minutes later we had another two fish just on that one rod, which shows how instant the special crab really is! All 6 fish (1 photo missing) fell to special crab 15mm boilies, both of us beat out pb's, thankyou quest baits!

First Night Success.

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Shaun Harrison Email: shaun@questbaits.com Venue: Grenville Lake Cambridgeshire

Details: After a particularly gruelling 2 weeks moving premises I finally got myself back on Grenville for what for me was to be my first night of the season (I had missed the first couple of weeks).

After braving the rain and spending quite some time Spombing a carpet of 10 and 15mm prototype boilies out at range I finally sat back in my bivvy to relax and watch what was already quite a dark scene become darker still.

The following morning I was dragged out of bed to the perfect start to the day in the shape of this lovely mirror of 33lb 14oz.

Looks as though I don't have a lot more tweaking to do with this bait :-)

Steady on Rob!!!

Date: Aug 2010 Name: Lee Email: Lee@laglehias.com Venue: La Gléhias Coarse Fisheries

Details: Robert Dannatt, here at la Gléhias Coarse Fisheries for a two week holiday with wife Tracy and daughter Abby, got off to a storming start with a staggering eighteen Carp coming out in the first 48 hours of fishing. By Thursday evening he was up to 32 fish weighing between 14 and 31lb 15oz. The catch list so far is made up of predominantly mid to upper 20’s with a smattering of Grassies, upper doubles and 30’s, and also includes a 46lb+ brace.

The magical baits for Rob have been Maize and Quest Baits Rahja Spice fished over Carp pellet, and the catches have been coming from all over the lake; a few fish were even stalked from the deep margins with instant results! Rob has also commented several times on how hard the fish fight and how impressed he is with the condition of the Carp.

Maybe in his second week here he might slow down a little and have a more relaxing holiday with his family! (And give our fish a rest!!)

Cheers

Lee Johnston (la Gléhias Lake Owner)

Barbel in tough conditions.

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Pat Gillett Email: patgillett@ymail.com Venue: Upper Trent and Dove

Details: Hi Shaun,
Have had another couple of afternoon / evening sessions since my last catch report.
First trip was another one to the Dove to another new swim (for me), this produced a barbel of 10lb 6oz which was the only fish between 4 anglers on that particular stretch. This fish fell again to the pellet and barbel chop paste combination.
I then had my first trip of the season to the Upper Trent (28/7/10). This proved to be a very difficult session with loads of weed coming down the river. I ended up fishing with 6oz to hold bottom just a rod length out, and a 6ft long hook length to ensure the bait wasn’t masked. The method worked for me, producing 2 bites. The first from a surprise 3 1/2lb eel and the second from a lean 10lb 12oz barbel. Once again the fish falling to the paste and being the only fish caught that evening.

Cheers,
Pat Gillett

Chilli choc Pike

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Kevin Smith Email: reaperbream@hotmail.com Venue: Weybread Pits Harleston

Details: Having moved onto your Chilli Choc bait recently I set up on a local water, with a view to land a carp or two. The weather had been really hot of late and I was not surprised that during the day the rods were silent.
I had fired a good covering of Chilli Choc quest boilee's into bay that looked really carpy.
As darkness fell I felt confident that the fish under the covering of darkness would move in. Around 03.15 sure enough the rod where the trap had been set spun into life. Line ran from the bait runner and I struck into what seemed a good fish. In the darkness I struggled with the fish it seemed very strong. After 10 mins it neared the net the headlamp soon picked up the shape and what did I have for my trouble? A very angry and large PIKE yes he obviously liked your Chilli Choc better than the resident carp and as I slipped him into the sling the scales swung round to 15lb 4 oz.
I have full confidence that quest bait will land me a big carp in future but for now I had to tell you that it also lands double figure pike.

Regards

Mr Kevin Smith

Details: Hi Shaun

Just got back from a two days fishing, two hundred mile round trip from a 5 acre lake set deep in the Devon countryside. We banked 14 carp from 14lb to 20lb, the lake wasn’t fishing well, but Chilli Choc did the business, fished with 15mm & 10mm chilli choc boilies on the rig and around 100 chilli choc freebees scattered out over each rod. My son Rhys had a few hard fighting fish which he managed to bank.

Thanks Scott

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Pat Gillett Email: patgillett@ymail.com Venue: River Dove

Details: Hi, Shaun,
Had another quick trip to the Dove last Thursday evening. The river is still painfully low and clear (we really need some rain), but there are still the odd fish being caught. Just before packing up at 11pm (work early next morning), I had my only bite of the evening, which produced a nice barbel of 11lb 12oz. This was caught on a pellet wrapped in the ‘old faithful’, Special Crab paste.

Cheers,

Rahja Spice do the trick

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Nick Pinder Email: nickyp_319@hotmail.com Venue: Pendle View Fisheries

Details: Hi Shaun & Co. Just a quick one to tell you how impressed I am with the Rahja Spice. None of my local tackle shops sell this bait, so with this in mind it was my thinking that it wouldnt be going into the lake I am fishing, so worth the 40 minute drive to the nearest tackle shop that do sell the bait (Trafford Angling). Anyway I have been introducing the spice in 15 & 20m on each trip, and eventually had great sucess on them. Not only has it produced 12 fish in 3 weeks, but its also given me a new personal best mirror of 29lbs 5oz. Fished as a stringer with 2x 15mm on the hair, and 4 bait broken boilie stringers over a single handful of matching pellets fished at about a rod length out under an over hanging tree. thanks again to everyone at the team. what a cracking bait.

Chilli Chocolate - I love it!!!!! So do Mirrors!!!!

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Dave Griffiths Email: daithecarp@btinternet.com Venue: No publicity Shropshire mere

Details: Hi Shaun

Just a quick one to say how I got on with the Chilli Chocolate I won at the 2010 BCSG fish in.

Fishing my "No Publicity" water last weekend
I found three clear spots in the weed and put markers on them. I fished chopped down chilli chocolate's on two spots against my favourite single hookbait on the right hander.

I put around 50 or 60 15mm ready mades on the left hand spot, upwind of the middle and righthand rods, single CC chopped down hookbaits on the middle and left hand rods.

It was the most succesful two night session I've had in terms of big fish (New PB 31 8 Mirror) and numbers of fish with three other fish, all mirrors. Strange that as the water has a sixty forty split commons/mirrors.

Thanks Shaun, they really are confidence in a bag!I can't wait for the big Commons to get on em!

Quest Baits Wins International Carp Cup

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Darko Lasnik Email: lasnikd@gmail.com Venue: Cepin/Croatia

Details: Our team from Slovenia attended international carp cup 8. Nations Cup in Croatia from 11-15 May this year. Match lasted 80 hours and in this time we caught 201,69kg to win this prestige cup. Smokey fish and Chilly Chocolate boiles in 10mm with Smokey fish, Chilly Chocolate and Fruity Trifle maximum action pellets represented big part of our armoury. We were able to hold the fish in the area for a very long time catching them on heavily gluged (Smokey fish and Chilly Chocolate) boiles. Combination of Maximum action spod mix and pellets was just devastating. Quality bait was a big advantage for us, especially as cup lasted long time, meaning carp had time to sort out quality baits.

Barbel and Chub Opening Brace

Date: Jul 2010 Name: Pat Gillett Email: patgillett@ymail.com Venue: River Dove

Details: Hi, Shaun,
Finally managed my first trip of the new season last Friday (25/06/10). I fished an area on the River Dove that I had never fished before and ended up with a nice brace. The 6 hour afternoon / evening session produced an 11lb 3oz barbel and a 5lb 2oz chub. The chub was heavily spawned out and I think would’ve been nearer to 6lb in good condition.
Both fish fell to a 12mm pellet wrapped in the Quest Barbel chop paste.

Cheers,
Pat

Date: Jun 2010 Name: Elie Godsi Email: Venue: Undisclosed

Details: Hi all, just a quick report after coming back from France where I fished for a week. It was a really tough week with really cold temperatures and hardly any sun! I had to resort to wearing four layers most days as the North Easterly wind that's been around for ages was really nasty. I was fishing into thick tall weed in 12' of water and it was impossible to find the clear spots without full sun, making life really hard. The sun came out briefly Monday afternoon, I found a gorgeous tiny gravely spot and had this lovely 37+ common from it. I then spent two days trying to find that spot again with a prodding stick. I had two takes off it and had this 32 common - fought like a demon - just look at the paddle on it. Lost the other one and managed a 28 from open water. There were some really big fish caught that week on the lake but I wasn't lucky to get in amongst them. Home made (paste with added egg albumin wrapped around a cork ball) Rahaja Spice pop ups did the job.
With a lot of time on my hands I was playing around with a rig I've been developing for a while now. I tied a few up on the bank for use on a weedy water when I got back. I really liked the look of what I'd come up with and was itching to try it when I got back. Next time I'll let you know how I got on, suffice to say my season just got better and better.

More than twice as many fish as the rest of the lake!

Date: Jun 2010 Name: Shaun Harrison Email: shaun@questbaits.com Venue: Sapphire Lake

Details: Just returned from a rather difficult week in France whilst doing a little filming for our website. I'm pleased to say that the Chilli Chocolate allowed me to hold my head high for the week. there were five anglers fishing and the Chilli Chocolate produced more than twice as many fish for me than the other anglers caught between them!
Even in very difficult conditions the Chilli Chocolate still came good and once again seemed to sort out the commons!

Thank you for your fantastic bait!

Date: Jun 2010 Name: Sean Potter Email: Venue: Champagne Lake

Details: Hi Shaun,

I just wanted to say thank you yet again for your boilies. I ordered them a few weeks ago for my trip to the Champagne Region and as always they did what you intended them to do. A small water of around six acres with seven days fishing produced some lovely carp for myself and my other two friends.

The Rajah Spice and of course the Tiger Nut boilies worked as always. Less than 24 hours produced my PB common of 40.12 lbs. I had a total of twenty carp which included 5 X 30lb'ers ,1 x 40 lber and 12 over 20 lbs.

The other guys also produced some lovely carp. We had a total of 13 fish over 30lbs.

Again thank you for your fantastic bait and also a great thumbs up to all your staff for their help and their friendliness.

Regards

Sean Potter.

Another PB on Fruity Trifle

Date: Jun 2010 Name: Matt Wright Email: Wrighty108@hotmail.com Venue: Island Lake France

Details: Hi Shaun,

I fished Island Lake in France last week and managed to land my new personal best. I landed a 51 lb 10 oz mirror.

I found a small gravel patch in the weed and dropped a rig onto it. The rig was a blow back rig with a snowman set up. I fished my food source bottom bait tipped with a Quest Baits Fruity Trifle pop up. The rig had been out just under 48 hours before my alarm screamed off early on the tuesday morning. After a good scrap the fish finally gave up the fight and slid nicely over the spreader block and into the landing net. I was delighted to see my new perosnal best at the bottom of the net.

This fish is going to take some beating and once again ive used Quest Baits to help me land yet another PB!!!

Thanks for making the Archie Braddock's Spice blends available again!

Date: Jun 2010 Name: Eric Roberts Email: Venue: Large Wiltshire Stillwater

Details: Fishing a large Wiltshire water bites on boilies and pellets were few and far between but numbers of Tench and carp could be seen moving over clear areas. A change of bait was required. Maggots heavily flavoured with (the thankfully now available again) Supaspice mix prompted a change in the fishes attitude towards feeding.
A number of carp to just shy of 20lb were caught but the Tench really got their heads down and some fantastic sport was had which included my first 10lb+ fish. Notable Tench from the catch were 10:04, 8:08,, 8:02, 7:12, 7:08, 7:06, 7:02, 6:14, 6:08.

I took only what I had left over from last year around 1/2 kilo. On our third day and third lake after only being on the bank for an hour I caught my pb Carp. My scales bottomed out at 36lb however I believe it to be around the 40 lb mark. Caught using a year old 15mm single Smokey Fish glugged boilie with a 5 boilie stinger of 15 and 20mm boilies and spread a handful of 15 and 20 mm special crab boiles(again last years) in the surrounding area using a catapult......Happy Days. Date: May 2010 Name: Ron Key Email: carpfisher@tiscali.co.uk Venue: Claudette, France

Details: On a recent trip to France I experienced something that never happened to me before in 35 years of carp fishing, and it didn't happen once it happened twice!!. I cast out a Chilli Chocolate snowman rig to the far margin and tightened up the slack line, then placed the rod in the rest. As I clipped the indicator bobbin onto the line it started to move and soon developed into a full blooded run. A twenty pound mirror soon graced my net. The following day the same happened again. I've heard of instant baits but this is rediculous, nice one Shaun!!

Cheers Ron

Good start on club water

Date: May 2010 Name: Linda Latham Email: Carpfisher.Linda@sky.com Venue: Butterley Res

Details: Joined Butterley res' again this year and after a couple of cold weather trips to no avail with the wind being in the wrong direction and very cold water i decided to give it another go yesterday afternoon. Arrived at the lake to find the bailiffs dragging out the weed ready for a match at the week end so i decided to try the opposit bank next to the railway wall. The bailiff told me about the long bank of weed just about 2 rod lengths out so i fished just past it hoping when i caught i could get the fish through the weed. I have found the max action pellets a great quick starter on short trips so with a small pva ball of these with a couple of free bee's using chilli choc 15mm boilies with snowman rig chilli and yellow pinapple pop up i fished hopfully past the weed. Just as i was looking at my watch thinking i shall have to be going soon my middle rod beeped twice and was off on a run. The fish was making a be line for the bridge and took some coaxing back to my swim, as it got closer i could see the green ball of weed with a tail splashing out with the carp moving back and forward some of the week got lost and i could now see most of my fish on the top. I soon had him in the net (not an easy thing to do balancing on the rocks and nearly falling in!!) My first Butterley carp of 15lbs was a beauty.

Thanks again Shaun for your tips and a great bait.

One of many I hope for this year

Details: Call at my local day ticket water last week just for the morning. Not much movement on the lake except for fry on top in large groups. I put one rod to the island and the other to my left in the margin with a handful of Chilli Choc max action pellets and a couple of 15mm boilies, fished with chilli choc snowman rig. A short time later the margin rod alarm beeped and off went the line. Only a short run and i had a lovely 12.5lber in the net. Quest has done it again for me!! Many thanks Shaun for another fabulous bait.

Just returned from France and I'm attaching a picture of the new lake record 51lb mirror caught using the Chilli Chocolate boilies you supplied.
Nothing had been caught on boilies for 3 weeks with only sweetcorn catching the big fish caught prior.

New lake record on Chilli Chocolate

Date: May 2010 Name: Paul Cooper Email: paulcooper18@sky.com Venue: Staffordshire estate lake

Details: Hi Shaun

On Tuesday afternoon I was coming to the end of a 2 hour session on my local lake, when I had 2 bleeps on one of my rods. I was quickly onto the rod and connected with a good fish. Due to the margins being very silty and shallow I was into the water to wade out a few yards, lost my balance and found myself wallowing in deep stinky silt. Still holding tightly to the rod, I got back to my feet, with the fish still fighting on the other end. My reel was thick with silt. I had to wash it down so that I could wind in the fish. After a long fight, I eventually landed the fish, what a fish, it turned out to be a new lake record of 37lb 4oz, caught on Chilli Chocolate of cause. I held the fish in a weigh sling while my mate Wayne Dunn, came to my rescue for a few pics. After 4 pics of one side of the fish the camera batteries died. Fortunately My phone does pictures so we had a couple of snaps of the other side. That was it for the day, off home for a shower and change.
I returned to the lake for an overnighter produced a 22lb 8 oz Common, a 25lb 12oz mirror, a 17lb Common, plus a 9lb bream, all caught on Chilli Chocolate.

Rahja Spice does the business - big style

Date: May 2010 Name: Chuck Ives Email: chuck.ives@networkrail.co.uk Venue: Le Bounty - France

Details: I thought that I would share one of my best weeks fishing in 30 years. I arrived at Le Bounty to be told that in order to catch, I needed to use the lakes own boilies or if not then Mainline Cell. As a devotee of Rahja, I told him that I would at least try my Quest Baits as they had never failed whenever I had tried them irrespective of the water I was fishing. Any way to cut a long story short, I took 36 fish to 44lb including a stunning common of 37.5 and a 44lb cat fishing days only. Rahja completely dominated the water from the off, much to the amazement of the 6 other guys fishing there, who didn't have a thrity between them. Once again its proves Rahja's pulling powers on waters that have never seen the bait. Fantastic week, fishing old school (no bait boats or spods - just fishing stringers/pva bags, using catapults and applying a little bit of knowledge)to get the presentation right.

Date: Apr 2010 Name: Ryan Scott Email: ryan-carp@hotmail.co.uk Venue: crows green fishery

Details: i was fishing at crow green fishery late in january , it was a bitter cold night with a vicious north easterly wind . i had been prebaiting under a willow tree for a few days with the fruity trifle , and then topped it up with a few spodfulls of particle and crushed boilies. i could see fish swirling over my spot , i had cast out with a fruity trifle boilie tipped with a bit of red corn , i used a small stick mix for added atraction , i cast and hit straight on to the clip , i spent a bit of time to sink my line , i wanted to get it perfect because i thought i had a long wait for a bite , but as i was clipping my bobbin to my line my rod tip bent round vigorously , i knew i had a long fight ahead of me , the fish battled on and on and on , it kept trying to take me into the many snags of the lake , over hanging trees , lilies and weed. At one point i thought i had lost it , it took me into a thick patch of weed , but i managed to try a different angle and play him out. The fish seemed to give up on me here , it slowly plodded in , as i netted it i knew it had beat my old personal best which was 22.12 , this beautiful mirror tipped the scales at 28.4 lb , i was absolutely delighted with this result.

Struggling to keep this one up !

Details: After much deliberation over bait me and my dad decided to go for something new as linear fisheries is so heavily pressured, so we went for 20mm Chilli Chocolate baits as well as 15mm Rahja Spice boilies (due to Shaun's advice on this being a great bait on pressured waters).I fished a chod rig over some light weed with a wafting bait, which was a glugged Rahja. Within fifteen minutes of casting out I had banked the first thrity to come from Hunts Corner this year, weighing in at 32.04. This fish was complimented by my Dad catching mirror carp of 27.03 and 24.08 all caught on Chilli Chocolate bottom baits. The bait is suberb and I will definitely be re-ordering,

Lake Record Catfish of 55lb 2oz taken on Pineapple Crush!!!

Date: Apr 2010 Name: Lee Johnston Email: lee@laglehias.com Venue: la Glehias Coarse Fisheries

Details: At ten past four this morning (22nd April 2010) I was awoken by the dulcet tones of the wife calling “LEE! LEE! PHONE! CATFISH!! PHONE!! LEE!!! CATFISH!!!”. I leapt out of bed and grabbed the receiver - “Hello?”. Sure enough, there on the other end of the line was party leader Des Chapman telling me he had a Cat on the bank! It had been a long time coming for Des as he and the fat cat had danced on several occasions during the week but had been snapped off before managing to land the lump.

Des (aka Master Yoda) Chapman’s left rod initially tore off from the Barbeque Corner at around 01:00am, but the feisty Cat snapped him off around the sluice taking his end tackle and luncheon meat with it! By 03:20am, Des and the giant tadpole were dancing again, but this time he did manage to battle the beast to the bank for a much anticipated photo shoot.

The Cat came in on Des’s right hand rod which was baited with Quest’s Pineapple Crush. However, on the bank it became apparent that the silly moggy had amazingly managed to blow out the boilie and attach the swivel still hanging from its mouth from the earlier take onto the size 4 hook attached to the bait!

At 55lb 2oz we know this to be our smallest Cat from its markings, but it still beat the current lake record by 2lb 2oz which has stood for the past two years. Well done Des!!!

Half century for Chilli Chocolate.

Date: Apr 2010 Name: Paul Cooper Email: paulcooper18@sky.com Venue: Sapphire Lake

Details: Hi Shaun,
I,ve just returned from a week at Sapphire lake with some excellent results in cold conditions, all caught on Chilli Chocolate. I used 10 kilo of 15mm Chilli Chocolate boilies and 5 kilo in 20mm to capture 50 carp to 38lb. The average size of the fish were around 26lb with 13 of them being over 30lb in weight. My hookbaits were double 10mm shelf life Chilli Chocolate, either 2 bottom baits or one bottom bait and one pop up snow man style. As you are aware I have already put in another order today. This is an outstanding bait, well done Shaun.

Birthday Present Common for Shaun on the Chilli Chocolate

Date: Apr 2010 Name: Shaun Harrison Email: shaun@questbaits.com Venue: Local Stillwater

Details: I have been very short of free time so far this year and being the type of person who simply 'HAS TO FISH' I have had to content myself with very short sessions of just 2 hours or less.
These past couple of weeks I have been rewarded with several carp for my efforts and having just taken a few days off for my birthday I actually managed to squeeze in a full afternoon session!

After fishing a swim for a couple of hours and spotting fish showing elsewhere I quickly moved and soon found myself bent into what felt like a real good fish on my soft rods and small reels I like to use whilst fishing the local venues.

After an incredible fight I eventually found myself peering into the mesh at a gorgeous looking common. The scales read 33lb and the bait it couldn't refuse was the new Chilli Chocolate boilie which has produced all of my fish so far this year.

What better birthday present could a fishing starved man ask for?

Third Time Lucky

Date: Mar 2010 Name: Ron Key Email: carpfisher@tiscali.co.uk Venue: Angling Lines Sapphire Lake

Details: Hi Shaun
This week I've just used Chilli Chocolate on my third French venue this winter and the results just get better and better. I've just woken up after the drive back and I've not unloaded my notes yet, but I had around 16 or 17 carp mainly from mid twenties up to this 37lb 2oz beauty, not bad for March!

90% of he fish fell to Chilli Chocolate snowman rigs cast out with a mesh PVA bag containing Chilli Chocolate Maximum Action Pellets and Spicy Micro Feed fished over a widespread bed of Chilli Chocolate, Liver B8, Surf n Turf and Rahja Spice boilies. I know which bait is going to Graviers with me in April

Cheers Ron

I now have faith in boilies

Date: Mar 2010 Name: Wendy Perry Email: wendy.perry3@ntlworld.com Venue: Cudmore Fisheries

Details: Hi guys and gals

Thought i'd let you know that i now have faith in using boilies to catch fish, after using the new chilli and chocco boilies. They are awesome and smell delicious, i will certainly be placing an order for some more! I went to Cudmore this morning, and went on pool 1 i started off on pellet as i thought i wanted to catch fish early on, i caught a barbel. Then sat for 3 hours, with a pellet on and didn't catch. So it was time for the boilie! As soon as i cast out i had it in my head that i would prob sit here for another 3 hours without fish, how wrong could i have been! Within ten mins i had my first carp, then a lovely bream and then i lost count of how many carp after that. I only used two boiles to catch them all!!! So a big thank you for saving me some money on bait, and having a cracking days fishing!

You will see my order very soon!

Wendy Perry

Carp are on the Spice

Date: Mar 2010 Name: Paul Cooper Email: paulcooper18@sky .com Venue: Staffordshire Estate Lake

Details: Hi Shaun,
As you are aware I have taken on a carp syndicate on a local estate lake.
After all the hard work getting the staging ready and liming the lake, I decided to give it a go.
I did a couple of hours on the lake a few days ago and lost a good fish. I returned today expecting a bright sunny day to find it turning overcast and cold. Even so I managed this 23lb mirror, taken on a 20 mil Rahja Spice boilie over about 20 freebies.

Paul Cooper

6 Chub on just 2 x Chubby Chops!

Date: Feb 2010 Name: Graham Parry Email: Venue: Bristol Avon

Details: Hi Shaun,

Just ordered some of these excellent baits after a remarkable experience yesterday.

I was fishing my local stretch of the Bristol Avon near Chippenham in Wiltshire and happily banging out roach of a pleasing stamp on maggot, corn and bread, rotating the baits as bites slowed. Oddly, not a chub in sight and I would have normally expected to pick up a couple. Another angler stopped for a chat, mentioned the Chubby Chops (swiftly avoiding a slap by mentioning that it was bait) and suggested I try a couple. I packed a small feeder with the same light groundbait mix I was using to keep the roach coming, hair-rigged a Chop and cast into the same spot I had been trotting over.

An hour and 6 chub to 3 1/2lb later and my two Chops were decimated. Fantastic!

I have to say I missed quite a few bites and think that my size 12 Drennan Super Specialist about 5mm behind the bait was probably not the optimum set-up but it was getting dark and I didn't have time to experiment. What would you have done - longer hair and bigger/smaller hook or larger hook and tight to the barrel?

Best regards,

Graham Parry.

PS, I ordered some Barbel Chops as well. What would you combine those with - I fish the Wye and Gloucester Severn in the Summer and Autumn and was thinking of grinding up some chops and mixing in a little of the Archie Braddock's powder but choice of pellets to bulk the mix?

Answer can be seen with pictures on our Blog

Just 2 x Chubby Chops

Xotic Spice = Big Perch!

Date: Feb 2010 Name: Archie Braddock Email: Venue: Midlands River

Details: The Braddock’s spice range we have recently re-introduced are proving to be a great success and nothing nicer for me (Shaun Harrison) than to receive a report from Archie himself on an incredible catch of big perch on the Xotic Spice.

It all started after picking up a fish of 2lb 10oz while stick floating on a local stretch of river. He returned a couple of days later to tackle it properly, but still using the same 20′ rod, an 18 hook, and half of a small dendrobaena worm.

First he mixed up his favourite Choppy Mix, consisting of dead maggots, casters, and chopped worm. This was bound together with a groundbait heavily flavoured with Xotic Spice, and introduced to a metre deep near-bank swim via a bait dropper. The water temperature of just 36 degrees F, (2.3 degrees C) meant four hours of biteless trotting, but near sunset he took perch of 2lb 9oz, 3lb 2oz, 3lb 10oz, and 4lbs, in successive runs through.

A great day with a sting in the tail, as he lost the biggest perch of the session after a long battle due to that small hook pulling out of the fish. He’s going back to the swim with beefier tackle, so watch this space.

Archie with a Perch of 3lb 8oz from a previous session

Chubby Chops catch those cold water carp!

Date: Jan 2010 Name: Andrew Allen Email: Venue: Makin's

Details: Andrew Allen one of our valued Quest Baits stockist who runs Mansfield Angling Ltd started using the Chubby Chops locally himself and has had great success in fact he even won a 5 hour match at the Makin's venue near Coventry, just before Xmas. A total of 90 anglers in teams of three took part and his team won with two of his team having the top weights, both fishing only on Chubby Chops with Andrew himself taking 13 carp for over 129 lb in weight himself, he reckons it is the colour that works best in winter.

Sorry - no fish picture but don't be fooled by the name of the bait. Since its release Ron Key has had some great Barbel sport on it and the carp certainly have a liking for it as well as the Chub.

If you're lookingfor something a little different to the norm'....
